• GAs: high flexibility and adaptability because of many options:

  • Problem representation
  • Genetic operators with parameters
  • Mechanism of selection
  • Size of the population
  • Fitness function

• Decisions are highly problem dependent

• Parameters not independent, you cannot optimize them one by one
